At Batesville on Friday evening in a similar showdown, Wendell once again ran second in his heat race before running into trouble early in the $4,000 to win main event. He was unfortunately hit by another competitor in the left front and retired with a broken spindle in the twenty-fourth finishing position. In Saturday's weekend finale, which once again boasted a $4,000 paycheck, Wendell placed third in his loaded heat race and later started the 40-lapper from the inside of the ninth row. He then put on a show in front of his hometown fans in blitzing past thirteen cars en route to a strong fourth place performance behind only race winner Peyton Taylor, Cody Laney, and Jeff Taylor! Earlier in the tripleheader weekend, which was condensed into only two days due to rain, Wendell competed for two additional $1,500 winner's checks. On Friday night during his season opener, the Batesville, Arkansas native placed third in his heat race, but distributor issues prior to the drop of the green flag in the feature forced him out of the contest. At BMS on Saturday afternoon, Wendell ran second in his heat race prior to knocking down an eighth place performance in the A-Main. Wallace Debuts Super Late Model; Finishes Fifth in I-30 Modified Special |
(August 1, 2021) The "Batesville Bullet" Wendell Wallace made his 2021 debut in a Super Late Model on Friday night, July 30 at the nearby Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas. Piloting a Capital racecar for car owner Mike Myers, Wendell qualified sixth fastest overall during COMP Cams Super Dirt Series time trials before running second in his heat race. After starting sixth on the grid in the $3,000 to win feature, Wendell was unfortunately caught up in an early incident, but soldiered on to finish twelfth in the final rundown of the contest. On Saturday evening, July 31, Wendell unloaded his familiar #6m IMCA Modified at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Batesville, Arkansas native won his heat race in preliminary action and later placed fifth in the $3,000 to win main event behind only race winner Peyton Taylor, Drake Findley, Timothy Culp, and Dallas Everett.
