Wendell Wallace Takes Weekend Off After Lucas Oil Series Doubleheader
(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Wendell Wallace Autosports team rolled into the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on July 16-17 for a pair of $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series showdowns. On Friday night at Granite City, the cameras of the SPEED Channel and a huge crowd were on hand to witness the annual running of the 'Budweiser 50.' Wendell Wallace ran sixth in his stacked heat race, but later grabbed the third and final transfer spot through his B-Main. After rolling off twenty-first on the grid in the 50-lap main event, Wendell wound up posting a seventeenth place finish.
At Wheatland on Saturday evening, the #88 team competed in the 'CMH Diamond Nationals,' which also boasted a $10,000 top prize and attracted the cameras of the SPEED Channel. Wendell ran third in heat race action and later started twelfth in the 50-lap feature event. The Batesville, Arkansas native sported a strong racecar during the A-Main at Wheatland and recorded an eleventh place performance.
